Carex secta
$4.00
Carex secta is a robust, fast-growing native sedge ideal for wetland margins, pond edges, swales and damp garden areas. Forming dense, fountain-like clumps of arching olive-green foliage, it provides excellent habitat for insects and birdlife while helping stabilise soil and filter runoff.
Tolerant of periodic flooding and heavy soils, Carex secta thrives in full sun to part shade and is well suited to large-scale restoration planting as well as naturalistic garden settings. Over time it can form elevated tussocks, creating valuable micro-habitat in wetter landscapes.
A hardy, low-maintenance native that brings structure and ecological value to any landscape.
Best for: Wet areas, erosion control, habitat restoration, rain gardens
Height: Up to 1–1.5m
